What Does It Mean to Participate?

Considering Participation in a Clinical Study?

Volunteering for a clinical study means you're choosing to be part of important medical research. Participation is always completely voluntary, and you may choose to withdraw from a study at any time—before, during, or after enrollment.

Why Should I Participate?

People join clinical trials for different reasons. At Axiom Med, we welcome both healthy volunteers and individuals with medical conditions for a variety of studies. Common reasons participants choose to get involved include: Contributing to future treatments for others with the same condition Helping advance medical science and make a difference in the community Improving their own health through close monitoring and innovative care Gaining access to cutting-edge treatments not yet available outside research settings.

What Can I Expect?

Prescreening

For studies involving specific medical conditions, prescreening may be conducted behind the scenes using your health records. For healthy volunteer studies, our staff will explain the study in detail and ask some initial questions about your health and medical history.

Informed Consent

Before joining any study, you'll go through the informed consent process. This includes learning about the study’s purpose, procedures, risks, and benefits. Once all your questions are answered and you’re comfortable proceeding, you’ll sign an informed consent form.

Note: Informed consent is ongoing—you can ask questions or withdraw at any point during the study.

Screening Visit

If you choose to proceed, you may be asked to complete screening procedures such as physical exams, lab tests, or questionnaires to confirm eligibility for the study. This may involve a separate visit to the site.

Enrollment & Participation

Once enrolled, the study team will walk you through all study-related procedures, visits, and timelines. You’ll be asked to follow the study protocol and report any symptoms or concerns. Throughout the study, you’ll continue seeing your regular physician for routine care.

End of Study

At the conclusion of your participation, the study team will let you know the next steps. You may also be informed about how and when the results of the study will be shared, if applicable.
